Data Deletion
You can ask us to delete the personal information we hold about you. This page explains exactly how to do it, how long it takes, and the narrow set of records we are legally required to keep.
Effective August 25, 2026
How to request deletion
Email contact@finishingmaterial.com with the subject line Data deletion request, from the email address linked to your account or order. Include your name, and an order number if you have one.
Prefer to speak to a person? Call (415) 815-5596.
We acknowledge the request within 3 business days and complete it within 45 days. We may ask you to confirm from your registered email address — that check exists so nobody else can delete your records.
What we delete
- Your account, saved addresses and sign-in history
- Quote requests, measurements and project notes
- Room photographs uploaded to the design tools
- Price-match uploads, once any active claim is settled
- Marketing contact records and email subscriptions
- Support correspondence not attached to an open order
What we must keep, and why
We cannot delete everything on request. We would rather say so plainly than promise otherwise and quietly retain it.
Completed order and invoice records
Retained for 7 years because tax law requires it.
Records attached to an open order, delivery or warranty claim
Retained until it closes — we cannot deliver, refund or honour a warranty on an order we have erased.
Payment records held by Stripe
We never held your card details, so we cannot delete them. Contact Stripe directly.
Anything retained for these reasons is restricted to that purpose and is never used for marketing.
Social publishing permissions
We publish our own marketing content through a self-hosted scheduling tool. It uses access tokens for our own business accounts to post our content and read back the engagement metrics on it. It does not collect, store or process personal data belonging to the people who follow or interact with those accounts, beyond the aggregate counts the platforms already show publicly.
These permissions can be revoked at any time. The account owner can disconnect the app from the platform’s own settings — Facebook and Instagram under Settings → Apps and Websites, TikTok under Security → Manage app permissions, and the equivalent screen on Pinterest, X, LinkedIn, YouTube or Reddit. Revoking immediately invalidates the token and stops all publishing through it. You can also email us and we will disconnect it from our side.
If you arrived here from Facebook or Instagram and want data that Meta itself holds removed, use the controls in your own Facebook or Instagram account settings. If you have separately ordered from us or contacted us, use the email request above and we will handle it.
